Yo-ho Yo-ho, it's the student's life for me.  I'm doing a PhD in what some say is a useless McDegree (sociology in case you hadn't already guessed).  As I will spend my future life writing, why not write online to a virtual audience of malleable minds!  As I used to be a programmer, I started with a short article on sendmail as the site gets hits on the topic.  Recently written founts of knowledge have been concentrating on study abroad.

I must say that my mind remains unfocused.  I recently read that George Bush's approval rating is at 48% as of October 2006.  It makes me ecstatically happy that America seems to be waking up to the fact that it elected an imperialist, hate-mongering oligarch.  Britain has been marginally quicker in its uptake of negativity against Tony Blair.  One needs only look at his aging visage to see how his unpopularity has taken its toll on him.

But I'm sad that Mr. Blair has not publicly admitted that there is a link between aggressive intervention into Iraq (i.e. 'The War on Terror') and racism against Muslims in Britain.

don't freak i'm a sikh

Ok so I'm not quite so talented as Keith Haring put the point is still there.  I recently heard of some Sikhs who were tired that white Britons were mistaking them for muslims because of their turbans.  It's not that they disliked muslims per se.  Rather, they were being beaten to a pulp by racist skinheads over a point of cultural and religious ignorance.  Of course, in an ideal world, no one would be beaten to a pulp!  However, the fact that these youths made 'Don't freak, I'm a Sikh' T-shirts makes for cutting social commentary.  The fact that anyone that is brown and has any form of 'religious headgear' is a target of white aggression is a sad turn for British society.  Bar an election of the Green party or Liberal Democrats, I remain pessimistic of 'community relations' under the stewardship of community Minister Ruth Kelly.  Mrs. Kelly... please prove me wrong!

One of the saddest things one can surmise from this incident is that the level of racist violence against muslims and South Asians in general has reached alarming levels, which are shockingly similar to the 'racial' tensions of the 1980s in Britain.  The only thing that's missing is a big ol' race riot.  Let's hope things change without recourse to anarchist style revolutionary tactics.

peace out.

As Premier Blair (as opposed to the hip Britpoppin Tony of 1997) refuses to wise up to the implications of being the prime sycophant of George W., I was left no choice:
